WHAT IF...

I would love to see some talented film maker create an epic of peace.  But how would such an epic be spoken when peace is begins with listening?  I think the story would open with a long silence.  A silence where all that has been said can be absorbed. No thundering drums, no sad violins. A simple silence for listening—and learning.

Listening, the humble hero, takes center stage, armed with unyielding compassion.  Listening has saved lives, lending an ear to loved ones in pain and solitary strangers; it has saved lives by reaching understandings that prevent or end violence.

Why do we create epics of war and not epics of peace?  If nations listened to one another, if there were true tolerance (not global homogenization), if we all listened, critically, and demanded the truth—what would the world look like right now?

Ask…                     Listen…                    Dream...
